The project consists of a gravity dam 56 m high and 405 m long, measured along the dam crest.
It includes three powerhouses: La Potra, which houses three turbine-generator units consisting of Kaplan turbines and vertical-axis synchronous generators, with a total output of 28 MW; an auxiliary powerhouse consisting of a Francis turbine and a horizontal-axis synchronous generator with an output of 2.10 MW; and Salsipuedes HPP, which houses three turbine-generator units consisting of Kaplan turbines and vertical-axis synchronous generators, with a total output of 28 MW.
The works included the improvement of the access roads to the dam, a bridge over the Chiriquí River, a 2.1 km long headrace channel, the head pond and intake structure for the Salsipuedes powerhouse located at the end of the adduction channel, and a discharge channel approximately 110 m long, through which the water is returned to the Chiriquí Viejo River in the Province of Chiriquí.
Services Performed
- Supply, Manufacturing, Transport and Erection of the filling pipeline for the adduction channel.
- Erection of the main and auxiliary equipment of the Powerhouse.
- Support in the Commissioning of the electromechanical equipment until its operation.
